Help me give my students a data and graphing instant learning center, place value number hunt and other math materials so they can continue on their quest to become mathematicians.
My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title I school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together, and encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My Project
My mathematicians are Nuts for Numbers! Getting these math supplies will encourage small group interactions as well as independent practice. Understanding place value concepts will be easier than ever with this innovative number hunt center. My students will be able to slide open the doors to find 1 more, 1 less, 10 more and 10 less!
Did you know that math can be fun?
As my students work with the equivalency puzzles, they will get to practice representing numeric values in 4 different ways using simple addition and subtraction problems. They will also be able to swim in the ocean with the sea star, octopus, stingray and fish at the data and graphing center as they learn how to collect data, create and interpret their own bar graphs. Please consider becoming nuts for numbers with us.
