This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in an area that is economically disadvantaged. My students bring very little materials to school and are not properly taken care of. No one reads to them at night or goes through their homework with them. As a teacher I want them to be successful no matter what their circumstances are.
Most of my students are very bright but need plenty of direction and encouragement.
They like to help me do things around the classroom as well as help other teachers. Most of them are very willing and eager to learn. With the right resources and correct guidance I believe they can be successful.
My Project
These resources will allow them to do science experiments. I want them to work hands-on with various experiments as they learn. Most of them are visual learners. I also want to teach them about the importance of eating healthy and exercising.
My project is important because of the obesity scare among young children.
I want them to start learning about eating and exercising early so they can incorporate it into their everyday lives as they get older. Learning the nature of science is very important, science is incorporated into many of the things we do today. Showing them how their body works and how it needs good nutrition to grow will enable them to be successful.
