Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please join me in trying to make a better life for our students. Our whole student body receives free or reduced-price lunch. Many students come in begging for the essential items. One of my goals is to help students see that there is a bright future ahead of them and there are so many choices that are available to them. Another goal is to introduce them to the world beyond our CA desert.
A large percentage of our students are in foster care, and several live with family members other than their mom or dad.
Many of these children have had little or no stability in their lives. They are often moved from home to home, with few or no belongings. Many of them have at least one family member who is gang affiliated or in jail in a nearby prison.
Many of these babies have stories that no child should be able to tell. Many times school is the most stable place they know. Thank you in helping me to make their lives more enjoyable and stable while they are learning academically.
My Project
My students often come to school with an empty stomach. Our school provides each student with a healthy breakfast. But, what happens around 9:30am when their tummies start to rumble?
My scholars need snacks during our state test to help them focus!
I would like to see each of my students have the opportunity to enjoy a snack while state testing. This way, their mind is on the test and not thinking about their hungry tummies.
