Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Hello! I am a first time teacher and I teach 19 kindergarten students. I teach in an early childhood school that serves students in grades preschool through second grade.

I came into a classroom that has a very small personal library. Many of the books in the library are torn or are falling apart. We cover many topics in the kindergarten curriculum and I want to include more books in the classroom that connect with our science and math curriculums.

I need more books for our library that will connect with our current subjects such as phonics, beginning reading strategies, shapes and animals.

My students would greatly appreciate some new and different books in the library. New books would give them more momentum and renew their interest in reading.
