My students need good Japanese Language textbooks; I'm teaching this language to students at our school interested in learning Japanese for the first time.
Our school encourages students to explore their interests and dig deeper into their thinking as learners.
My students have opportunities to blend in fully with general education students and to learn based on their abilities as well as their interests.
I also serve students needing extra support and there is no differentiation between my students and general education students, which I love about this school very much. As a result, we have very enthusiastic learners, including my students, and that makes them feel really good about themselves and thrive in their learning.
My Project
At our school, we encourage students to explore their interests by offering an apprenticeship, adult mentors, and communities to help pursue those interests. This is my 3rd year teaching at this school and for the first time, we decided to offer each student a one-year apprenticeship of their choice. We had enough groups of students who are interested in learning the Japanese Language. Since this is organic to our school, and our district does not have Japanese language classes, I had to come up with my own curriculum. I found one textbook which could work, and I tried it out to create lessons with it so far. I am more than halfway through the book, and I would like to have the whole set.
Our students need good textbooks, and these books will help me to provide them with quality lessons to learn Japanese.
These textbooks such as "Japanese for Young People: Speaking" are targeting especially young students like mine, and I haven't found any other textbooks that are suitable for middle and high school students.
