Numbers Through Colors

Help me give my students basic school supplies such as Crayola markers and crayons, dry erase markers, chart paper, and glue. These materials will allow us to be more expressive.

My Students

My school is a Title I school that sits in the heart of Washington, DC. I have a group of 80 students who are fun-loving, eager-to-learn new things, excited about school and love to read. My classroom would be considered a melting pot of cultural heritage and social needs. Many of my students have been in the U.S. for less than 2 years. They inspire me every day.

To meet their needs, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, least restrictive environments and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

My Project

The materials will reenergize the classroom, by refilling the materials we have already put to good use. As the middle of the year has come and gone, so did our materials.

Now we need your help in getting everything through our door!

The crafting supplies will help us express and communicate the understanding of the material through visuals. Sometimes it is difficult for students to say what they mean, so to allow the students to express themselves, we need new materials. These everyday items, such as labels and lamination will allow the curriculum to present clarity and stay longlasting. Station work and small group instruction will continue to be engaging when these resources come to the classroom.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful representations. Through our school’s small group model, my students will focus on the comfort of expression through crafting and hands-on manipulation. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of becoming life-long learners. As the teacher, I have done extensive research and understand that all learners are unique and need the accessibility to express their understanding of the material.
