As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences every day.
My Pre- K students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love learning to read and crave lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
I believe that having access to iPads in my Pre-K classroom will help engage my students. Apps such as MyOn and Reading Eggs will help students recognize letters, site words, and develop listening skills.
Our classroom wishes to modernize learning with new digital devices.
These new digital devices will help development skills needed for 21st Century Learning Skills. My goal would be to have an iPad for each student. Each students having their own iPad will help create a more individualized learning environment. As a teacher this will help me reach students and meet their student learning objectives. Thank you!
