Number Worlds Math Program for a Special Needs Classroom
Help me give my students a new spectacular math program that is designed to support the common core standards, while engaging them with colorful succinct directions and guided math practice.
Each of my students has academic challenges related to learning disabilities and/or sensory processing deficits. They each have individualized educational plans which are designed to provide instructional supports and accommodations that best fit their unique learning styles.
Learning Center students are intelligent, hardworking young people.
They may have learning challenges, but they are motivated to achieve the same, if not more than their non-disabled peers. Some of my students come from economically disadvantaged living situations, whereas others are blessed without those obstacles. Several students are bilingual and are designated as English Language Learners.
In class, we work on written language, mathematics, art, science, social studies, and reading. I use various techniques and strategies that take into account each child’s learning style, disabilities, and strengths. My instructional style offers visual, kinesthetic, and multi-modal approaches to better meet student needs. Many times students work on projects for their general education classes with support from myself or my TA.
My Project
I teach students from age 5 up to age 12 in mathematics, writing, and reading. I have spectacular materials for reading and written language work, but I am finding math instruction challenging since I have to make photocopy packets each week at multiple ability levels. The math packets are working OK, but I want much more for my students!
I'd like to obtain Number Worlds Level F workbooks and a teacher edition, so my students can have more cohesive mathematics lessons.
I have used this program before and it works wonderfully inside a special education classroom. It gives succinct directions and guided practice work, then allows students to show what they learn with independent work sections.
I previously posted a project for Level E and Level F Number Worlds books but the project did not fund 100%. So, this new project is designed to be more likely to fund since I am only asking for Level F books. Anything you can afford to donate would be amazing!
