Enthusiastic, energetic, empathetic, creative, inclusive, and motivated are a few words that come to mind when thinking about the young learners in my class. Our class is comprised of twenty-eight amazing Transitional Kindergarteners and Kindergarteners. Within the class, there are gifted and talented students, students with disabilities, and English Language Learners. Despite this, the school has received academic achievement awards the past six years, is a California Distinguished School, and a School For Advanced Studies.
The innocence of children is what makes them stand out as a shining example to the rest of mankind.
-Kurt Chambers
These accomplishments are due to the strong partnership between school and home, and we would love to throw community into the mix, too. This is a school where high academic standards are maintained for all students in a safe and nurturing environment. The faculty and staff are lifelong learners themselves and foster that love of learning in their students. The faculty and staff work hard to ensure that the record of achievement continues.
My Project
It is never too early to learn about financial literacy! My students are young learners beginning to grasp early math concepts such as more versus less, counting, addition, and number recognition. These are the basic skills they need to master in order to expand their knowledge in financial literacy.
The materials in this project will enhance my students’ math skills through highly engaging and interactive activities.
The Snap & Slide Number Bonds develop skills in addition, number sense and composing and decomposing number, all of which are important to know when it comes to financial literacy. The math activity tins will help my students match quantity to quality, learn number sequencing, and learn simple addition.
While learning these math concepts, I will be able to teach my students about saving and spending, how money is used to make purchases, and making good choices based on needs and wants.
Thank you for your help and contribution to ensure my students a bright financial future!
