My Students
The students in my class come from very diverse backgrounds. There are several different cultures represented throughout our school, as well as a variety of socioeconomic statuses.
For our students, school is a place of excitement where the kids look foward to come everyday.
It is a safe environment for them, where they feel comfortable taking risks in their learning. We strive for excellence and achieve greatness. Our school is a place of kindness, understanding, teamwork, and encouragement. We set high expectations and work hard to meet our goals.
My Project
The ETA hand2mind Daily Fluency Kit will provide my students with specific practice to improve their number sense. Number Strings and Math Talks have been proven to enhance students' deep understanding in mathematics in a systematic and structured way.
Kids will love math, if they are given a positive experience in which they are encouraged to take risks, challenge themselves and make mistakes.
These materials will give me the tools to differentiate individual learning needs on a daily basis. Creating learning habits at an early age will set my first graders up for future success. The sky is the limit!
