My Students
I have an energetic group of first graders! They love to learn and are excited to come to school. Over half of my students receive Title I services and many come from low income families. I have English language learners and students with IEPs in my room.
My students benefit from hands-on activities and learn best from DOING!
We love any learning activity that gets us up and moving or that incorporates games. Learning can be fun!
We love to do stations to reinforce math concepts. The kids enjoy playing math games and interactive activities to practice what we are learning in our whole group and small group lessons.
My Project
My students learn best in small groups and I'm excited to move more into a guided math set up for my class. In order to best meet their needs, I need games and activities for them to reinforce math concepts during independent stations like Hot Dots Math Cards. This independent practice will help them self check things we have already practiced together.
By providing students with tools to help them develop a stronger number sense, their confidence in solving problems will grow!
Number charts will be a strategy they can independently use to check their answers. We have 100 charts but the state standard is that students should use numbers up to 120. These new 120 charts would be a great addition to our math toolbox!
