My Students

Hello! I have been teaching for 16 years. I taught first grade for 12 years and have now taught kindergarten for four years. We have been focusing on number sense. I would love for my students to have the opportunity to use these math tools.

Our school is an early childhood center.

We have all of the pre-k and kindergarten students in our building for the whole school district. Our school district is primarily in a rural area, so we have many students who are part of the reduced or free lunch program. The teachers and staff in my building care for all students in the building and want all children to succeed. My students are very diverse. My students learn through a variety of modalities, so I like to provide as many experiences as possible to help them be successful.

My Project

In my classroom we have many opportunities during the day for math lessons. We have whole group and small group math. We are focusing on number sense in kindergarten. We have "Number Talks" every day to help children understand numbers. The rekenreks that I have requested will help students see numbers in a different way. They will provide my students with a hands-on approach for solving problems and for understanding numbers.

I feel that your donation will benefit my students' understanding for basic math and for number sense.

I feel that it will help me differentiate my teaching during our "Number Talks" and our "Number Routines."
