Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low income homes. Many of them are English Language Learners with little to no English exposure. Despite the hardships some go through, they still manage to walk into the classroom with smiles on their faces. When they enter my class, they are curious and eager to learn!
Our school is 90% English Language Learners.
It is very unfortunate that due to their socioeconomic status, my students do not have the same opportunities that they strongly deserve to become successful leaders.
My Project
I am requesting interactive CDs and hands on math learning materials for my classroom. The interactive CDs will give the students a fun and engaging way to practice reading and math skills during whole group time and for a centers.
Number Sense makes sense!
Kindergarten students need to have foundational skills in number sense. The magnetic 10 frames and the dot cards will help do this. Using these to teach math in whole group and small groups will help give my students hands on materials to use. These will help build discussions with the students during math talks. Most students learn by doing and these materials will allow the students to do that.
