Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you first walk into my class/lab you will realize that there are 300 unique students. They all come from different backgrounds and deserve to have the best so they can make a difference in the world.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ― Nelson Mandela.
Our school is a low resource school. Each student has a story. Some of them come from really rough homes where school is usually not the first thing on their mind. Others, they come from very loving homes but still have many struggles at home. No matter what the differences are, they have learned that we are a family and they treat each other with that respect. They are a wonderful group of students who are eager to learn.
My Project
As the STEM teacher in our building I am always looking for new opportunities to grow professionally. This is a new program to our district. Since I was one of the teachers who piloted the program, I am helping train the new STEM teachers. Going to this conference will allow me to gain a better understanding of how to run a STEM program at our school/district. The conference is targeted towards schools that are actively implementing a STEM program. Since we are starting this program, this conference is perfect for me to go to. This conference will allow me to collaborate with other STEM teachers and to create a strong STEM curriculum for our building. With this donation you will not only help me grow as an educator, but you will also be positively affecting the students I teach.
