Technology is the future of education. It is what motivates and engages students in the 21st century, including my own! Technology allows my students to see content in a new way, and connect with material on a deeper level. My students deserve a technologically-rich learning experience!
We are part of Charlotte Avenue Elementary School in New Hampshire.
Charlotte Avenue is a diverse school, serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
My classroom consists of 21 amazing fourth graders! We are a fully inclusive classroom including special education students and students with English as their second language. My students come to school full of energy and excitement for learning every day! They are curious, thoughtful, inquisitive, and motivated!
Our classroom is constantly in motion. We incorporate movement, hands-on activities, music, and technology into our lessons on a daily basis, to ensure that students are always engaged. Having the technological resources to support the thinking and exploration of the students in my classroom would be invaluable to their success in fourth grade and beyond!
My Project
Classrooms today are vastly different from classrooms of the past. Teachers are no longer standing at the front of the room lecturing, while a room of blank faces stares back. Instead, students are taking an active role in the learning process. In today's classrooms, the thought processes of students are valued, and they are encouraged to share their thinking with classmates to offer another perspective or approach to a problem. The differences in the ways that students learn are celebrated!
A document camera would allow students greater opportunity to share their thinking, revelations, and perspectives with their peers. Rather than simply orally explaining what they learned, students could use the document camera to show their thinking, therefore sparking new ideas in the students in class. Ultimately, a document camera would allow students to take on a greater, more active role in the classroom, enhancing their learning experiences, and changing the way they learn altogether.
Technology opens up the doors for new ways of learning and thinking.
It engages students, and allows them to take ownership of their learning. Having a document camera in our classroom would provide my students with the opportunity to interact with their peers on a new level, and would also enhance the content they are learning. A document camera would be a valuable asset to my fourth grade classroom!
