My Students

My students live in a rural community with a population of approximately 1,005. The nearest public libraries are more than 10 miles away and are not available to most of my students' families without them paying an annual usage fee. My K-6th grade and 7-12th grade school libraries are a way for me to "fill the information gap" for my students.

As the K-12 school librarian, I want my students to be curious - curious to explore their own interests further, curious to seek out the truth by asking questions and by being informed, and curious to generate possible solutions to any problems they encounter, now and in the future.

I am blessed to impact the lives of my students throughout their entire public education career! Whether it be through literacy or the STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) MakerSpace, I strive to ensure that each student reaches their full potential and has a desire to continue learning throughout the rest of their lives.

My Project

There are several locations within our rural district that do not have the technology in place to allow for regular presentations. To help alleviate this issue, a portable projector and screen are made available. Our district’s current projector screens are too small for a large room to see and/or too bulky to easily transport from location to location.

In order for my students to be college and career ready, they must have practice with creating presentations and public speaking.

This project will provide my district with a new portable projection screen, an Epson ES 3000. This screen’s size (39 inches tall) will be large enough for whole-class presentations, as well as larger assemblies. The screen will also adjust widths to match presentation settings (4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 aspect ratios). Finally, the included carrying case with wheels will help transport the screen throughout the district.
