Help me give my students Time Magazine for Kids so that they may have a new and diverse way of learning about the world around them.

My students are my heart. They are the reason that I get up and head into school every morning. This year I have been given the pleasure to teach 5th grade and I am so excited to see what great things are in store for myself and my students.
Our school resides in the toughest neighborhood in town, with most families living at or below the poverty line.
So many of my students live in single family homes or for some with an alternative adult. Yet they come to school each day eager to learn and to grow as individuals. My students come from varying backgrounds, some which makes school their only safe place.
My students have some of the biggest dreams to become astronauts, scientists, doctors, and teachers. They all want to be world changers, difference makers, and problem solvers. I want it all for them and will cheer them on until they reach their goals. I will also be there to cheer them on when they pick their next goal. Every child in my class has the potential to be a great success story.
For my students, staying current on what is happening within the world around them is something that does not happen often. I want to help bring what is happening around the world and in their own country to them in a way that is understandable and digestible. Time for Kids will do just that. It is presented in a way that will not turn off students, especially 5th graders, to reading and learning about current events.
The majority of our children are very isolated in their neighborhood, with many children not even having had the opportunity to venture downtown, and it is within walking distance of our school.
The students can tell you anything and everything that is happening on their street, but ask them about a relevant issue within their city, county, state, or country and they are not able to make a meaningful connection. The children in my classroom will be the adults running things soon, and I want to make sure that they are as prepared as possible for the world, as it is, and how it will be.
