Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Can you imagine taking a read-aloud test on the computer and hearing all of your friends' computers reading their test too? How distracting! Now, imagine if each student had their own set of headphones to use...no sound or distractions to interrupt your learning!

My wonderful group of 1st grade students live in a large urban area in North Carolina.

They are very eager learners and desire to learn as much as they can! Many of my students come from homes that do not have access to technology or computers on a daily basis. I want to give my students the opportunity to utilize technology every day in our classroom.

My Project

I am requesting headphones from each student and 5 extra, in case some may break. My students will use these headphones daily in our classroom, as well as using them weekly in the computer lab. Each student will receive his own headphone to use when listening to stories online, taking reading tests, playing math games, and much more!

It is important that each child has their own set of headphones for health reasons (germs), as well as to minimize the distractions around them as they are learning through computer-interactive activities!
