The students in my classroom come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and learning abilities. However, each student shares the love of learning and deserves the chance to become a life long reader. Each day, I get to teach 27 students with reading abilities ranging from above average to special needs. I use a variety of strategies to grow and motivate my readers. My students spend a big part of their day seeking new adventures, page by page.
My Project
My students are in need of a diverse collection of books to read for literature circles. These novels will help inspire students and help them become life long readers.
These book sets will be used in literature circles where the students will take a leadership role and prompt discussions with peers.
Each student will have their own opinions and feelings for the books that they get to choose. Reading with a group of peers will encourage students to think and respect others' opinions about a topic.
Novel sets and reading with other students will reinforce the variety of reading skills that are taught throughout the year, as well as build fluent readers.
