My students need books for novel studies, Number the Stars and A Long Walk to Water will be a great start to our classroom library.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
I teach twenty-one high energy fourth graders that consist of 13 boys and 8 girls. They are exceptionally hard working and enjoy learning each day. This group of children is diligent and positive minded and they seek knowledge in all areas.
They live in a rural county in North Carolina and at least half of my students only live with one parent or family member.
My group is sweet and remind me of little sponges. They are soaking up everything I'm giving them and asking for more.
My students need books to explore real-life situations in other parts of the world. Up until this point in their school careers, they have read books that didn't touch heavily on real-world problems. A Long Walk to Water will allow this opportunity as will Number the Stars.
Both of these books are about children and I believe my students' level of engagement will be through the roof!
I want my students to thirst for knowledge and these books will open up the world to them in ways that they have never known. These novels will enable my children to be exposed to situations of this world that aren't so pretty.
