My students need a pencil sharpener, a whiteboard, and a copy each of The Hope Chest so that we can expose them to Historical Fiction as well as address many standards that they are lacking.

My Students
The students at our school are from a rural farm town. 75% of the students receive free and reduced-price lunch. While they may be low income, they have a passion for reading.
The library that we have is a room not much bigger than a living room.
The students come to me once a week and while in here I try to make reading new books a magical adventure. We have been devouring books in here and the students have told me that they even talk to their parents about what we do in Library which makes my heart full!
My Project
The books are going to help the students with analyzing a text. We will be able to read a historical fiction novel while making sure that we are teaching many of the Literature standards too.
I have just been moved to a different room that has a chalkboard in it and the chalk keeps squealing so we would like a dry erase board.
I also do not have a pencil sharpener in my room and need that as well. By donating to this project the students will get an authentic way of digging deep into a novel, they will no longer have to listen to the squealing of the chalk on the chalkboard, and they will have a new sharpener to sharpen their pencils.
