Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach two general education classes and one inclusion class of wonderful 7th graders. Each student that enters my room is given many opportunities to learn and grown throughout the year. I strive to make my classroom a safe haven for my students and a home away from home!
The school district has suffered so many budget cuts, that I am left with very little money to purchase anything other than mandated material.
Without funding the simplest of supplies slip through the cracks.
My Project
My students are immersed in literature all year. I try to do at least four novels with my them. This year my students absolutely loved Freak the Mighty, Loser, The President Has Been Shot, and Tuck Everlasting. I need to proper supplies to manage the material for these novels.
Folders and notebooks are essential to management in my classroom.
Each day the student will have activities that support the novel we are reading. They will use the folder to hold all packets and worksheets that go with the novels. The composition books are used to answer questions and draft essays that connect to what we are reading. I color code each class and that way I know which folders belong to which group. If I don't provide these materials the students end up losing materials and grading becomes a nightmare!
