Novel Study - for Everyone!

Help me give my students an engaging and interesting novel. Boys are often left out in ELA class. These novels will especially interest my athletic and active 7th grade boys. My students are already requesting to read them!

My Students

My students are creative, unique, and witty 7th graders. Seventh grade is a really tough year for a lot of students. I love working with students during this exciting and sometimes emotional time period.

My students are learning to be independent, be confident in their own identity, and be kind to each other.

I am always stunned at how the students latch onto our two class expectations “be kind” and “give grace.” I have witnessed students exhibiting these traits outside of our classroom walls. I am proud to be their teacher.

My Project

Providing relevant, appropriate novels is a huge part of helping students learn to love reading. If I can help students find the type of books they love, then they can continue to be lifelong readers!

My greatest desire is that my students look forward to reading, and feel like they belong in our safe, creative community during class.

These novels will help me provide successful and interesting reading experiences for students. I currently have a few copies of each novel on the shelf, and I have a wait list for students to check them out! My library cannot keep up with their demand for reading, That makes my heart sing, and drives me to find ways to meet their reading requests.
