My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! I teach students who are identified as gifted and talented in Math and Reading, and I teach my general education class Science and Social Studies.
My students come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
Our school is located in Little River, SC located right outside the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. My students come from many different backgrounds, but are always ready to learn something new and learn from each others differences.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, Kagan structures and technology to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year.
My Project
Do you remember your favorite reading teacher growing up? The one who instilled your love of reading. I want to be that teacher for my amazing group of students. They are a group of extremely hard workers who love a challenge. They use their imagination to make projects come to life and I know they would benefit from being able to complete novel studies.
It is important for my gifted and talented students to be pushed in order to grow which is why they need novels on their reading level and are of interest to them.
These two requested novels focus on challenges, aspirations and hope which are topics that many of my students will appreciate because they can see themselves in the text and relate to the characters.
My students deserve the opportunity to expand their imagination through the use of novel studies. During a novel study students will work in collaborative groups to master standards while also developing fluency skills, vocabulary and comprehension skills. They will be able to complete projects that use their imagination and creativity to make the novels come to life. I can't wait to see where their creative spirit will take us!
