Ms. Meredith from Richmond VA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need novels on various reading levels to further their reading comprehension and understanding to become better readers using novel studies.

My students are workers. They work hard. They work when they wake up in the morning by helping get their siblings ready for school. They help by finding breakfast to grab on the way out the door. They work by asking for help on homework when they get to school before it’s too late to turn it in. They are always showing me on a daily basis that they deserve a quality education and that they, above all, are the future.
My students deserve more than just a classroom and a teacher and a desk; they deserve to explore, to create, to imagine and discover.
I love how much excitement occurs when you tell them about the science lab for the week or the read aloud book for the lesson. My hard working, life loving, crazy energetic students deserve it all.
I would like to give my students the opportunity to explore, imagine, and learn form a variety of texts within small group by using authentic text from novels I know and love.
Using authentic text within a small group seeing can provide my students with the opportunity to be more successful and have them develop a love for reading outside of instruction.
Titles from Charlies and the Chocolate Factory that give students the ability to explore characters and character traits, to The Giver where foreshadowing and symbolism consume you, I want my students to be exposed to a variety of text that will enhance their love of reading as well as have them improve as readers.
