My school is a Title I school with 65% of the students qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch. This allows the entire school to receive 100% CPE free breakfast and lunch. The students are hard-working and range in ability levels from Special Education to Gifted and Talented with all grade levels and classrooms.
I reach all 55 fifth graders through math and reading interventions as well as teaching my homeroom students all subject areas.
They are a diverse group of learners from varied backgrounds. Students come into the classroom willing to try new concepts when you make it fun and engaging!
My Project
Students become more engaged in their learning when it piques their interest or they can make a personal connection. These different books will allow each student to find something in each character to relate to and learn from!
These five novels will allow me to teach my students about cultural diversity and accepting people for who they are, whether they have sordid past that they want to recover from or are quirky!
Restart allows students to learn about forgiveness and giving others a second chance. I mean who hasn't needed a second chance at something?
Supergifted, Ungifted, and The Unteachables by Korman makes us rethink our ideas about intelligence, heroism, and popularity.
The Bookstore Mouse shows us all how important words are! The students will LOVE how the mouse uses words to his advantage!
