Kindergartners are growing and learning so much each and every day.
I teach in a low income school where close to 90% of our students receive free or reduced-rate lunch.
Our school provides a loving, safe and consistent place for them. My students are eager to learn despite difficult circumstances they face in their every day lives. My students come from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of experiences. But one thing we all will have in common is the eagerness to learn and try new things!
My Project
My kindergartners work so hard every single day that they are at school. Though we already serve our students a breakfast and lunch, in order to keep our little bodies and brains fueled and going for a full day of school, students often need a snack to keep focused and learning during the school day.
By providing access to a healthy snack, students can keep focused on the important job of learning.
Simple pre-packaged snacks, like fruit snacks, applesauce, chips, and crackers, as well as easy to serve snacks like animal crackers and pretzels allow students to independently serve themselves while the teacher is working with small groups of students. Students will use wipes to clean up their area after their snacks. Taking time out for a snack gives them the brain break they need to make the most of their learning and working time. A full tummy helps us grow and learn to our fullest potential.
