Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their resilience and determination. Despite the challenges they face in a special education class, they show up every day with a desire to learn and a spirit that brings joy to our classroom. Their perseverance inspires me, and I want to do everything I can to support their growth and success.

One of the biggest challenges my students face is hunger.

Many struggle to concentrate because they’re hungry, making it difficult to focus. Snacks would make a tremendous difference, giving them the energy to engage in learning. They work for snacks, turning them into a positive incentive for focus and effort.

My students need tools to help regulate their emotions. Sensory toys and cozy areas with bean bags will provide them with a calm, comfortable space where they can reset and prepare to learn. These items are essential for creating a supportive environment where their emotional needs are met.

Reading is another area where they’re working incredibly hard. They need easy, engaging books to help build their skills and confidence. My goal is to provide them with resources that make learning to read enjoyable and achievable.

My ultimate hope is to create a classroom where my students feel supported, safe, and encouraged to thrive. They are special because they face challenges head-on, doing their best every single day. They bring a smile to my face, and I want to do everything I can to help them succeed. Thank you for considering this project and for supporting these incredible kids.
