Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a 98% poverty elementary school, my students have many challenges and obstacles to overcome each and every day. Our school is a neighborhood school, meaning all of the students live within walking distance of the school. My Fifth Grade class is made up of a group of 28 students, many of whom come from bilingual and/or single parent households. All students receive free breakfast and lunch from the school.
My students try their very best each and every day to do what they can to succeed, and it is my goal to provide these students with the resources that they need to do so.
Each of my students has various strengths and weaknesses and I want to be able to provide them with the tools to best fit their individual needs.
My Project
Being a teacher in a poverty stricken area, parents and caregivers of my students have a difficult time providing the needs for their children. Students from my class love to do different types of projects, but lack the notebooks needed to kick off the start to a new year.
This project provides my students with the basic supplies needed for the school year!
The notebooks will be used by my students to take notes and do various projects during reading, math, science, and social studies. The folders will be used as homework folders for students to stay organized and successful.
