This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students an urban school that services students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. Many are required by Tennessee to be provided with Intervention service each day in class to help bridge the gap in achievement. They are energetic, fun, and eager to learn new things. They enjoy hands-on activities and technology. Some of my students struggle with basic math and reading skills.
Many students in my class come from single-parent homes, and others are experiencing school for the first time because of limited public-funded Pre-Kindergarten classes in the area.
We are a Title I school in the Memphis area.
My Project
In a small classroom with twenty five students, it is sometimes difficult to find space and to effectively allow each student the opportunity to utilize technology independently daily. With the addition of a notebook, my class can access the school's wireless network daily through center time with not much space needed. We will be able to effectively use the internet for enrichment for advanced learners and intervention for struggling learners. I will create workstations, in which more students can utilize this new technology. Students will also be provided with virtual lessons in times of school closure.
I believe in capturing the interest of my students, and technology is one interest that I have discovered in each of them.
By donating to this project, you will give my students an opportunity to utilize technology daily. This project will help my students with skills needed to compete in the twenty first century.
