Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend school in CA. Most of our community lives below the poverty line and the crime rate is high. This does not keep our students from coming to school ready to learn every day.
Our community struggles day after day to make ends meet, yet these children show up to school ready to learn.
Most of our students' families work very hard to fulfill basic needs such as clothing, housing, and occasionally food. This, however, has not stopped our students from thriving. They have high goals and they are working hard towards accomplishing them.
My Project
Students spend long hours at school. The setting can be rather uncomfortable with rigid chairs in small classrooms. Student movement should not be restricted, flexible sitting options are necessary to allow movement while learning.
The balance balls will not only bring comfort into the classroom but will also enhance student learning by allowing students to focus on academics while having the liberty to move around without leaving their seats.
Flexible sitting promotes a mobile learning environment in which students learn while allowing their bodies to move freely. Movement promotes learning; movement keeps students engaged and takes focus away from the discomforts of a typical classroom setting.
