My students need color coded, complete sets of pots and pans to execute food labs successfully and create a wider variety of foods in class.
This project expired on August 3, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are eager learners. My school services more than 900 middle schoolers each year. Over 3/4 of those young adults rotate through my class. They come from all walks of life and most speak multiple languages at home.
These young adults are eager to become more independent and feel like they are in control of their lives.
They love to be in the kitchen and they love to learn and eat! All things that make for great future chefs!
Color coded and complete sets of pots and pans are vital to the organization and execution of all labs in FACS. In order to run lab successfully across all grade levels, complete sets of pots and pans are vital. Students will have an easier time locating and organizing their tools by color and labs will run much smoother. Having a complete set for each kitchen will allow for us to take our cooking skills to another level.
Students will be able to independently prepare breakfast for themselves and those they love!
Other foods that we will use these new pans for include: tacos, sloppy joes, stir fry, pasta and pizza sauce from scratch, and anything else the kids suggest! Giving them choices for labs also helps build a passion for learning and cooking. I love being able to teach a student something new and help them work through a recipe. Hearing about how a student made one of our recipes for their mom or sister really makes this whole thing worth it!
