Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The program I teach gives my students a chance to feel comfortable with math. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Response to Intervention or RTI. They have been put down so many times and have lost all confidence in math. My goal is to build what has been torn down. I myself was not good in math when I was their age. I know when confidence is lost in the early school years, it is extremely hard to gain it back. I would like to change the way my students view math and help them gain their confidence back.
My students are predominately economically disadvantaged and some homeless.
Some have horrible home lives that are currently being affected by COVID-19. I would like to make their school days stress free and free from worry from home.
My Project
Due to the virus, my students are not able to share the classroom materials necessary for day to day activities. My goal is to make sure all my students have the materials they need. The pencil bags will be great to hold pencils, markers, colored pencils, and their own personal tissues.
Everyday materials are necessary!
These materials are going to be able to follow the students home if they decided to do remote learning. Our students can change options between face to face learning and remote learning every 9 weeks. I would like to make my classroom as normal as possible and to take one less worry away from my students.
