Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 4th grade teacher in the Paradise Valley School District in Phoenix, Arizona. The school where I teach is in a high-need community. There is a high population of English Language Learners, and safety concerns for students in the neighborhood, and my students are looking for a safe alternative. My school does not receive extra funds, so we are left to require that basic supplies and materials are brought to school by our students. With your support, our students will have the tools necessary to prepare them for what lies ahead!
Resources are always a concern when finding learning opportunities.
We are constantly participating in and looking for ways to fundraise to take field trips, and acquire learning and classroom tools. Our students work very hard to achieve and learn. Our students are are inquisitive and eager to learn.
My Project
My plan for this project is to give students access to audio on the classroom Chromebooks. What I plan for this project is to give students access to interactive activities, videos, and books. They will be able to read and listen to the instructions, videos, and stories to fully understand the concept of each lesson. By being able to listen, my students will improve their fluency and build confidence in reading. Many words that they use to stumble with, can be read to them for clarification.
Every child deserves an opportunity to have access points to be able to read.
Many of my students can not read at grade level. This is largely due in part to their language barrier or at home circumstances, and not because of a disability. Access to audio on a lap-top will not only heighten their reading ability, but your donation will bring hope and success to a child's life.
