Not Having Enough Computers Makes Typing an Essay Difficult

My Students

My hard-working students are striving against all odds to make it to and in college next year. Some of them work 40 hours a week to help support their struggling families; some will be first-generation college students; some have experienced hardships that would set back even the most motivated of individuals.

However, these students are determined to be successful, so they have enrolled in my college writing preparatory class, a challenging and fast-paced elective class known as "Senior Composition."

My Project

This year my Senior Composition class does not have enough computers for each of the students to use. This is a problem because the way the class is structured, they are constantly writing college-level essays. Just as a college professor would expect, I have them type every essay using MLA or APA format in Microsoft Word.

An additional laptop would be extremely beneficial for my classroom because taking turns on computers wastes precious class time.

Our school budget cannot handle purchases like this laptop because of all the financial cuts to education in our state. My students and I would greatly appreciate this laptop donation.
