This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third grade teacher in East New York, Brooklyn. Over 90% of the students receive free lunch. Last year I ran into a slight problem that I'm hoping with your help I will not run into again. After last year's tsunami, I had my students research natural disasters and earth science. The problem was that I only have one computer in my classroom so we had to solely rely on books for information. There were only so many books available. I could not find all the natural disasters I wanted and some books were much too difficult for my students. Compiling the information became more difficult then I was hoping for. Teaching them about natural disasters and earth science with enough books for them would be extremely helpful. Without having enough books it is difficult to find information. Again, there is only one computer in my classroom. Books are what we rely on. I want my students to be able to research topics thoroughly and be able to make a presentation with accurate information. With your help my students can get new science books about natural disasters and earth science. They will be able to read about natural disasters and earth science and see color photos.
