My First Graders are fun loving, inquisitive, energetic, and willing to learn. They come from a wide range of educational, economic, and cultural backgrounds. With this said, most of my students would be classified as low income.
Over the years, I have noticed an increase of wonder and excitement in their eyes as we experiment and try to solve problems.
They are questioning their learning and eager to gain more information and knowledge. I love when they ask Why or How?
My Project
The STEM materials I am requesting will help my students answer their "How" and "Why" questions. Children learn from interaction and exploration. These materials will help them interact with me and their peers as we try out ideas and learn new materials.
I have materials in my classroom already that I have been utilizing, but after 15 years of teaching some of them need to be replaced.
The quality and availability in products has also improved over the years. I want to do less direct instruction and incorporate smaller group work. These items will greatly help me achieve that this year.
