Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you experienced listening to a book on a Color Nook? Let me tell you, for a first grader it is magical. Last year's students got an opportunity to experience this and I want even more students to have this delight. As they were listening to the books, I would hear little giggles-Priceless!
About three weeks ago, 24 young and eager first graders walked into the classroom ready for a new school year.
Sixteen of these smiling faces speak their family language at home and then come to school and function all day in English. The majority of these students qualify for the reduced/free lunch program as well. We started homework on the second week of school and let me tell you about the responsibility and dedication of these wonderful students.
My Project
We are hoping to expand the number of Color Nooks in our classroom. There are two currently but with one more, more students could delight in listening to stories.
We need some additional headphones, splitter, a cover and screen shields.
This additional Color Nook and accessories will allow more students to share in this activity at the same time. With this Color Nook, we will easily be able to have 12 students using the three class Color Nooks at the same time, thus shortening the waiting time for everyone to experience 21st century technology.
Help my students continue to succeed to become 21st century learners.
Another Color Nook in the classroom is a wonderful way to empower these first graders with their reading skills and learning.
