This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have a huge appetite for learning and for reading. They are intrigued by both fiction and non-fiction texts. They are easily engaged in hands-on learning opportunities. They are excited about coming to school and learning.
I have the opportunity to work with students that come from a variety of walks of life.
The group that I currently have is very excited about learning and they are always engaged in activities. They are energetic, enthusiastic, and down right amazing!
My Project
TIME For Kids magazine subscriptions will offer my students the opportunity to have additional nonfiction texts in the classroom. It is important for them to have this exposure since most of their standardized assessments include nonfiction. It is also important to have texts that are relevant to their lives, as well as engaging for them. This classroom resource will give us the opportunity to do just that. I can not wait to sit with them in small groups or in a whole classroom setting as we engage in the materials that are listed. It will be a great and rewarding experience for each of them.
A donation to this project will assist in building on the positive classroom climate that we already have.
We will have the opportunity to study engaging and interesting nonfiction texts together. This will make it easier for them come test time when they have to read multiple nonfiction texts and comprehend what they read.
