My students need nonfiction books to use in our book tasting! They will get a chance to win these books once the book tasting is over. The goal is for students to become excited about books!
Our school strives to help students become well-rounded citizens by using 21st century interdisciplinary themes within our curriculum. Technology is integrated into the classroom on a daily basis and is a very important part of today's society.
My students are creative, problem-solvers who are beginning to use a variety of tools to differentiate their learning experiences.
They are expected to work through challenges, learn every day and build a growth mindset.

My Project
Students will experience a small class transformation! They will learn in a restaurant for the day. These books will help them complete a nonfiction book tasting and to continue working on nonfiction text structures.
Students will find their purpose of reading while "tasting" nonfiction books.
They will choose books from the menu to "taste" and will learn about reading for a purpose. I have chosen non-fiction books that students will be excited about. Thies excitement will help kick off the nonfiction unit for our class. Students will work through text structure, informational writing, summarizing and main ideas. We need to add some excitement to nonfiction reading for students to start progressing with real world texts.
