My Students

My amazing group of students come from all areas of economic and ethnic backgrounds. There is never a dull moment with this dynamic group of fifth graders.

Their curiosity and enthusiasm are inspiring on a daily basis.

My students and I create a safe and productive space, a space that promotes taking risks, allows for respectful disagreements, and encourages critical thinking and productive problem-solving.

These amazing young people excel and thrive on opportunities to explore and build on their thinking.

My Project

I have many unfortunate memories of reading chapters from textbooks and answering the questions in the back as the bulk of my nonfiction exposure as a young student. As a teacher I am working hard to offer students the opportunities to work with nonfiction text outside of a textbook.

I want to show students nonfiction can be just as engaging and imagination opening as a fiction text.

These books will open doors to the world of historical leaders and events which impact the world they live in today. These nonfiction texts will help my students more opportunities to acquire a greater vocabulary and develop better critical thinking skills in all areas of academics.
