My students need some 35 nonfiction books including some from the "Face to Face" series to complement our fiction classroom library.
My students have developed an inspiring love of reading this year! It's wonderful to see them pick up a book when they have a few minutes free. Our classroom library, however, is extremely lacking in nonfiction books.
My students are extraordinarily bright, enthusiastic, and curious 3rd graders attending a public charter school in Arizona.
Their enthusiasm for learning and the way they encourage each other to pursue knowledge has been such an inspiration for me this year! I've been so impressed at how many of the students have developed into voracious readers over the past few months. I've been doing my best to expand my classroom library to keep up with the demand for new books, but demand has become greater than my ability to supply! (What a wonderful problem to have, though!)
I've focused on acquiring fiction books to this point, so the resources in this project will make an enormous difference to our classroom library! There are several students who report preferring nonfiction to fiction, and they have read our few nonfiction books several times each. The books I've requested will be excellent complements to our history and science units as well, allowing students to continue learning on their own about what we're discussing together in class.
I've loved seeing so many of my students discover this year just how delightful reading fiction can be.
I'd love to carry that a step further and help them see how enjoyable nonfiction books can be. Please help bring quality nonfiction books into our classroom!
