Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am starting my first year of teaching during the 2019-2020 school year at Augusta Circle in Greenville County. I have not yet met the students I will be teaching, but I am already so excited to be their teacher! I am looking forward to getting to know my new students as both learners and as people.
I am constantly looking for ways to help student engagement in my classroom!
I know they will very much benefit from this project and most importantly, from your generosity!
My Project
My students will be using nonfiction books to research subjects that interest them. They will be using the information that they find to write informative essays. Students will choose what they want to write about, and will be given the chance to learn about new topics on their own.
Students will be developing their love for reading while completing this project, because they will have made the choice of what to read on their own.
Having non-fiction choices in our library will also help students build up their background knowledge. Students will be getting read about different animals, famous people, and events.
