Nonfiction Books for Author Visit!

Help me give my students an opportunity to read books by the nonfiction author, Alicia Klepeis! She will be visiting our school and talking about traveling, being a writer, and what it means to never give up.

My Project

In library this school year our 3rd - 6th graders have been working on research projects about animals and countries around the world. They're learning great research skills, but having a lot of fun doing it! Alicia Klepeis, a nonfiction author that lives in our local area, will be visiting our school and talking about writing nonfiction books at the end of February. She will share how many rejection letters she's received from publishing companies, her experiences traveling the world, and talk about how she's done research on animals and places around the world as well. It will be a great culminating experience to coincide with our projects.

We do not have many of her books in the school library and our low SES students will not have money to purchase copies of their own, so to drum up excitement about her visit I'm looking to give away some of Alicia Klepeis's books to students while also getting them excited about her visit.

I will present the books to the school and let them know that any students that submit a question for the author will be entered into a raffle to win one of her books. We will ask Alicia Klepeis the questions during her visit, get students excited about her visit, expose them to her books, and promote reading and writing at the same time!
