My students are motivated, hard-working individuals who come each and every day ready to learn, ready to try, ready to overcome mistakes they had the day before, and ready to give their 100% each day, even when it is tough. Many of my students come from mixed homes and homes that have been through trauma and poverty, but that does not stop their motivation or drive to make good choices and to be exceptional. With my love of growth mindsets, we talk about how to turn situations around and see the positives and talk about what they can control. This offers students choices in their lives and a new way to look at the world around them.
My Project
Students have been exploring my classroom library and have asked about some topics of interest. Students need more fictional books like the Sisters Grimm and Harry Potter to pique their magical interests and develop their mystery skills. Students were so engaged when I read the first book of each of these series that we need more of each series to keep students interested in reading about their fairy tale detectives and magical students.
Students also need supplemental reading materials around the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to read about fourth-grade science learning such as rocks and minerals, energy, circuits, and more.
My students want to read and I need and want to get them some books that they are interested in!
