Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very diverse. I have students that are working on acquiring the English language and some that are learning basic skills. These easy nonfiction readers will give them the opportunity to experience a variety of literature types.
My students are in kindergarten. Our school is a public K-5 school in Alabama. Most of the children have not attended pre-kindergarten. We are located close to a major university which draws many different cultures to our area. These students are a major group in our school.
My Project
The students will be able to read these books in class and at home. All of the books are nonfiction and they are all on a kindergarten level. The literature bags will enable the students to take these books home so they can read and share their learning with their parents.
These books will give the students the opportunity to feel successful! Each book is on the student's level and they are nonfiction. The children will be able to meet every area of the new common core standards.
