My Students
My fabulous first graders are unique, creative, inquisitive, energetic, and deserving of a quality education. Their backgrounds, socioeconomic conditions, life experiences, and development levels are diverse, requiring specialized instruction and activities that challenge their abilities, ignite their senses, and build character.
Each student adds a certain spice or uniqueness to our classroom dynamic.
Their individual skills and contributions will help decide the course of our year as they develop, learn, and grow. It is my job to find ways to stimulate their senses, challenge their abilities, and help them develop values that will strengthen their character so they may become productive citizens in their communities.
My Project
National Geographic non-fiction books are just what my classroom needs to inspire beginning readers, promote science comprehension, encourage fluency, and help provide books for my differentiated reading groups.
National Geographic readers (Levels: pre-reader thru independent readers) offer clear up close photographs that captivate student interest and the ability level text cannot help but promote improved fluency.
Owls, dolphins, volcanoes, bears, farm animals, habitats, and penguins are just a few of the topics my students will encounter with these remarkable non-fiction books. Last year, I couldn't provide enough of these books in my Accelerated Reader (AR) classroom library. Students were begging for them.
