Help me give my students art supplies and a classroom library with many non-fiction text to help them broaden their content knowledge. A variety of text will help increase students love for reading.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a great group of kids from a low income school with more than 85% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches. The students are mainly African-American and about a fourth are Hispanic-American. This awesome group of scholars are always ready to learn and love coming to school everyday. The use of non-fiction books and art supplies in their classroom environment will enhance their learning and allow them to emphasize their creativity while learning. These scholars are ready to grow and would love your support!
My Project
These non-fiction leveled books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. They love to read independently, especially while holding a stuffed animal friend! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have been looking for non-fiction text to increase their content knowledge and their interest in reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of texts that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
The art supplies will allow students to express the learning in a creative way through project based learning.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
