Help me give my students the opportunity to come together in literature circle groups to enjoy reading nonfiction texts.
My students are all extremely compassionate, self-driven, and curious. Although they are only 9 to 10 years old, they are all genuine loving people with caring hearts. Before the school day begins, they enter my classroom by greeting me and asking if they can help prep for the day in any way. They continue to provide myself and their peers help and support throughout the entire day. When a student gets hurt physically running around at lunch or experiences emotional distress outside of school, the rest of the students get emotional with them because they care so much about each other. When I call on a student to solve a problem or if I reward a student, the rest of the students always support them with a silent applause. They are some of the sweetest human beings I have ever come to know, and I hope to support them as much as I can because they all deserve it! They are motivated to succeed! They love to pretend they are the teacher with their younger siblings and teach them everything they have learned in my class.
My students have been obsessed with reading the fiction books that have been donated to our class. My students are anxious and eager to try reading non-fiction texts in our guided reading/literature circle groups.
Having the students read these non-fiction leveled texts will not only improve their reading skills and further their knowledge, but it will introduce them to new texts that they will appreciate.
My students love learning and they love feeling proud of themselves. I know that when they finish reading these non-fiction leveled texts, they will feel proud, confident and motivated to continue reading even more!
By donating to my students, it will give them courage to pick up a non-fiction text. It will help them realize that they are successful and brilliant. When they receive these books, it will make their day!
