Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We work with students who come from a variety of living situations, mostly high needs in terms of economics. Many come in not for an education, but for love and a safe place.
Our students want what we all do - a safe home, good friends, good health, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to make a difference in the world.
All of my students are 21st-century learners who embrace learning in new ways and take on any challenge. They are hungry to learn more about others and the world around them.
My Project
My students have become voracious readers this year! They love that they have the ability to request books and our wish lists can be funded by amazing, generous people who believe in the power of a good book! Reading is a life skill that we know must keep practicing to get better.
The fact that my students are reading these books like crazy, and requesting additional ones they would love to read is absolutely amazing!
I want to continue instilling this love of reading in my students by requesting high-interest, student requested books for our classroom library. Three classes of about 60 students total creates such a great variety of interests, and I would love to have more new books for each of my students to fall in love with!
